Evaluation of landscape and landscape impact of the construction in Páramo Leonés

Abstract

This article contains a brief description of the methodology followed and the conclusions obtained in a study of the evaluation of landscape and landscape impact of the constructions carried out in the area of Páramo Leonés in the spring-summer period in 1995. The methodology followed in the landscape evaluation tries to integrate all the aspects that can be taken into consideration when an evaluation of this kind is undertaken (philosophical, psychological and territorial approach). Thus a complete evaluation method, applicable on Spanish landscapes, is verified and validated. The estimation of the landscape impact of the constructions is conducted by estimating the adaptation of the constructions to the environment, taking as a basis a previously elaborated typology of the constructions. The combination of the values of adaptation to the environment of each construction and the evaluation of the landscape in which the construction is situated gives the impact value. The work carried out leads to interesting conclusions related to both values of the landscape itself and the constructions in the Páramo Leonés, as well as to the methodologies followed in the evaluations.
