This study shows the result of a set of 586 reports which have been compiled on constructions with damage in their structure and/or their partitions, providing a basis for a detailed statistical analysis. Through this analysis the way in which each of the possible causes of damage contributes to the problems of structural pathology in Spain is revealed. The results obtained are summarised in the conclusions and final considerations, after comparison with statistics from various European countries and, in the light of this, comments are made on the state of the building process in Spain and the problems observed. Some results concerning the Basque Country are also provided, which have been deduced from the analysis of 116 cases corresponding to this region within the general framework.
