Lower passageway of the Plaza de España of Barcelona

The purpose of this interesting structure is to transform the road structure of the square by gathering in an underground pass all the incoming traffic towards the center of the city coming from the Castelldefels freeway. The project was carried out in two very different stages: a) preparatory work, particularly with reference to the huge job of changing the public utilities affected; b) the job itself consisting of the lower passageway and the preparation necessary to transform the Catalonian railroads into underground transportation.
