The main building of the Boeing 747 Complex occupies 254,942 m2 and has a volume of 5.818.000 m3. It is one of the largest structures so far built by man, and contains the subassembly, main and final assembly naves, as well as the sections for testing, cleaning, sealing and painting. Its structure involves, among others, 49 girders of 91.44 m length and 180 t weight, which were put together from three sections. Each was separately lifted and then joined together at their final location. The enclosing walls include reinforced concrete panels of up to 2.10 m height, and also folded metal sheets, at the higher levels.
