After a brief reference to metal and timber structures, this paper analyses in detail the pathology of concrete as a structural medium, and a study is made of the various types of cracks which may arise, and their significance. A systematic classification is given of the most frequent anomalies that are found in concrete structures, and illustrative examples are cited. Finally a brief account is given of the kind of help that technicians can obtain from specialized laboratories, when encountering pathological problems in their works.
