This article gives a brief description of the Berlin Nationalgalerie, which will serve to display outstanding sculptures and paintings of the last four centuries. It is undoubtedly one of the most distinguished designs of contemporary architecture and of its famous creator. Among its more significant features mention might be made of its emplacement, its singular metallic structure, its highly evolved formal balance, and the fine use of three basic materials, steel, glass and granite, and a dominant use of a square modulation.
