The analysis of composite steel-concrete beams requires to set, previously. the dimensions of each part of the beam for proceeding after that to adjuste them by un iterative process up to reach a reasonable approximation; the initial definition of that kind of sections is not easy because are involved a great number of parameters. This paper develops a direct procedure for obtaining the above mentioned pre-design of the beam including optimization criteria and a practica1 application by the use of tables containing usual edification situations.
