Steels for prestressing concrete may have diseases along their life; its diagnosis and therapeutics are the subject of this paper Three stages may be considered: Prenatal, where the steel wire is born from cold-drawing a suitable steel bar. Adolescence, the period from manufacturing to final stressing the concrete, and Maturity, the whole period of serviceability of the prestressed concrete structure.
