Modifications of the spanish R.C code EH-88 with respect to the EH-82 issue

This article explains the main changes introduced in the new Spanish Code for Reinforced Concrete Structures (1988) with respect the previons one (1982). Changes are minor as far as design and calculations is concerned (with the exception of cracking and deformations) and more relevant in chapters dealing with materials and quality control. In particular, the cement, the aggregates and the concrete (fabrication and quality control) are treated in a new way The article offers commentaries dealing with the technical aspects as well as the background reasons for changes.
