Abstract

This center was designed to serve as a prototype for geriatric hospitals, in accordance with the program drawn up by the health authorities of the southeast area of the Thames; for this reason, its design had to be such that it could be reused in different hospital complexes. It consists of a pavilion with an infirmary equipped with different clinical, therapeutical and social services for senior citizens. In order to render possible the realization of the prototype on locations with different conditioning factors —in this case the unit was built on the grounds of an important medical center—, the auxiliary and service premises were designed separately, thus facilitating a different implementation with respect to the central nucleus, in accordance with varying circumstances
