This article tries to revisit those theories which supported some of our restorations, done some years ago. During this period, many things have changed, people of all cultures have more facilities of communication. Many theories about restoration have being extended, in similar conditions. But it isn´t possible to generalize, with quite different surroundings. Each monument has it reason to be in its culture and society, which reflects its history and evolution. Looking for the most important values to conserve or reintegrate, to transmit, may be the guide of the restoration in the future. Having the solution for the lecture of the phases of the monument, and for the consolidation of the fabrics without losing its documental values, the next point to consider may be the environment. After “filologism” and “critical restoration” (R.Pane), another way may continue.
