Parrochial Centre in Puchenau, Austria

This complex has been built near the old church, the schools, cemetery and the parish house, opposite the townhall and adjacent to the town's shopping centre. It consists of: the main church, a smaller every-day chapel, a baptistery chapel, the community hall, a youth hall and a kindergarten. The three consacrated areas have an octogonal floor plan with skylight focusing on the altars and the baptismal font. There is also a continuous span window, high along the walls of the main nave for visually floating the roof. The materials used are all traditional: timber and brick, but highlighting the focus points with stone and metal. The arcades, landscaping the pond and a plaza, provide the compound with the required monumental feeling and dignified importance.
