This building is one of the first to take the solar energy system as the starting point for the design concept. The result, both visually and conceptually clearly expresses the basic feature, manly through the large glazed sunshine collector constituting the roof and the piping, exposed both in the inside and the outside. The 840 m2 built up area building, mainly used for scientific courses and photography laboratories, is of a highly simplified design, giving a considerable degree of flexibility to the interior floor space which can be varied in accordance with the several programmes planned or envisioned for the future. The curricula involve precisely chemical and biological subjects associated to solar energy use. This is why the aim of the designers can be deemed successfully achieved by turning the building itself into a source of learning and experimentation for both teachers and students.
