Abstract

432 apartments are distributed in the eight upper floors of this building, each including a bedroom, kitchen - dinning - living area, bath-room, laundry terrace and a small miscellaneous room near the entry vestibule. The public areas are located in an ample semi-basement and include a bar, a restaurant with kitchen area, night club, movie theater, shops, gymnasium with sauna bath, storage areas and a full range of facilities. The floorplan is Y-shaped to permit locating the vertical traffic core in its geometric hub, thus minimising the walking distance to each apartment. An interesting feature of the design is a pair of landscaped inner courtyards, one hexagonal in shape, surrounded by a ramp increasing the means for vertical movement of the public, and the other triangular, enclosed by the corridors leading to the apartments. The structural design is based on reinforced Steel construction and the façades are treated with prefab planters in a straight or a winding line enclosing respectively the galleries and the apartments terraces. The outside áreas include many and varied sports and recreational.
