Theatre-club in Peterborough - Great Britain

This building, located near the business centre of Peterborough and a winner of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Annual Award is a theatre-club sitting 400, plus back-stage areas, such as workshop, actors» dressing rooms, etc., and public areas including a barroom and cafeteria and an ample exhibition hall that turns the building into a focal point for complementary non-theatrical cultural activities. The whole is treated in a straight-forward manner, both in the arrangement of the interior spaces and in the way the structural materials —concrete, metal, brick— have been taken advantage of as finishing touches which, besides signifying an important economy of means, confers a high grade of architectural sincerity to the design.
