Abstract

The classic method of building stations and tunnels with cement or ceramic materials has been abandoned in favor of carrying out the most recent stations in the Stockholm underground system based on structures which take the esthetic value of the «cave» into account. Several artists have cooperated in the selection of paint colors, sculptures, paintings on the walls, etc. This article studies the characteristics of the underground system and its different construction stages, such as: mechanical perforation and blasting, load techniques, rock reinforcement, etc.
