Abstract

This article includes the most interesting developments in the field of concrete pavements in the United States, gathered during a trip by a group of Spanish engineers on the occasion of the first International Congress on Concrete Pavement Projects, held at Purdue University (Indiana). The trip was completed with a series of technical visits, among which those to the Portland Cement Association, the California Highways Laboratory and several highways, both in use as well as under construction, in that State, deserve special mention. As is well known, California has developed its own technique for hard roadbeds which has been applied in some recent works in Spain.
