Abstract

This construction consisting of 5 storeys plus attic is an enlargement of an already existing office building. As a consequence this old building has been entirely remodeled and only the heavy work and the classic facade have been maintained. The main premise was that of unifying the functions and spaces of the two buildings. With regard to the structure this implied the same floor height for the old as well as the new building.; and with regard to the interior, the use of the same materials and construction systems for the lining of the ground surfaces and the conditioning of ceilings as well as sharing of the vertical communication nuclei in addition to the sanitary installations. The idea of achieveing a unified complex was carried out as far as possible; thus, the centralized heating and ventilation installations are being shared, as are also the electrical, lighting and telephone systems. The complex that combines the two different exterior architectural styles in a harmonious manner is further completed with a 23-car parking place which occupies the left over area of the plot.
