Abstract

The determining factors for the design and construction of this 6-storey building were: the different surface requirements of the various storeys and the desire to achieve a construction with an original look. The structure ¡s simple, consisting of portal frames with overhangs and a lateral bracing nucleus in which the vertical communication of the building is located. The external enclosures are provided with reentrants and thus the surface requirements for the different storeys were met. To give the work an original finish on the outside, the different elevation surfaces were joined by means of bent galvanized iron plate arranged in continuous curved lines to avoid sudden discontinuity. At the same time this plate serves as a framework for the Windows, which are also arranged in a continuous manner. These can be opened but lack vertical elements. These Windows contribute towards giving each floor a diaphanous look. Functionally the building meets the previously established requirements perfectly and it stands out notably in its urban surrounding.
