The decrease in oil consumption causes a natural reduction in the shipping trade, in harbour works in general and in particular in the use of sheet piles in the construction of wharfs, sluices, etc. The present article gives a brief study of the corrosion that affects the sheet piles in sea water, in all its aspects; namely, the reasons and parameters, the qualitative and quantitative evaluation thereof and the various methods for prevention of protection.
