This article describes: 1) State secondary school for boys —the most important one in the country— with a capacity for 2,500 students, located in the centre of Santiago. Out of 103 projects this won the first prize in the National Public Competition. It consists of educational premises of all kinds, such as for sports and cultural activities, and is provided with the latest installations and equipment for this type of building. 2) Social and sports centre of the Inmobiliaria Deportiva Unión Española, S. A., also situated in Santiago, comprising all kinds or sports installations further premises for cultural and social activities and welfare services: 11,000 m2 occuped by buildings, 4,000 m2 of terraces and gardens and a capacity for approximately 6,000 people. 3) Indoor gymnasium of Talcahuano, divided into a social, sports and cultural section, auditorium and stadium. These three parts contain the most modern equipment for each one of the three facets, and forms a model complex. The structures of the three buildings are of reinforced concrete and have been calculated to resist the continuous earthquakes that afflict the area.
