An account is given of the previous studies, calculations and the works carried out to move this building 23 m. It has 8 storeys, weighs 7,000 t and was constructed 19 years ago. The operation was undertaken to make way for the Avenue Ciudad de Lima, in the centre of Bogotá. It has been necessary to construct a «fix structure» to canalize and support the building during its «trip» towards its final place, and one «mobile structure» designed to unite and stiffen all the columns. It forms a transportable «chassis», equivalent to a Warren type rib of 50 m span, which is pushed on rollers to its destination by means of hydraulic jacks.
