The unit occupies a ground-site of 15.2 Ha between St. Giles Church and the Fann, Aldersgate and Moor Streets, with a capacity for 6,500 people. This project comprises: 2,113 apartments in blocks of varying heights; housing for students and young people who work in the Centre of the city; girls schools; the Guildhall school of drama and music; theatre; concert hall; library; shops; restaurants and pubs; garage for 2,500 vehicles and service station; parks, gardens and ponds. Special care has been taken to see to it that the pedestrian circulation be separate from the car traffic, public transport and goods trucks. The construction is basically of reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete structure with exterior surfaces that require none or light maintenance.
