In this article are described: Two rectilinear independent bridges by means of which the Leman N. 9 highway bridges over the Paudèze valley. Both are 400 m long and 12 m wide and consist of two traffic lanes and a parking strip. Maximum height 70 m and average height 30 m. It is to be emphasized that the molassic region of Belmont presented disastrous geological conditions for which reason the foundation was subject to a most detailed and accurate investigation. In view of the above mentioned circumstances a competition of projects was announced, the winner of which is being presented here. The Lendar bridge, between Belmont and La Croix, is a correction of RC773, that bridges over RC770. In order to avoid excessive loads on a ground that showed the same characteristics as mentioned for the Paudèze bridges this was constructed in the shape of a curve so as not to get too close to the embankment which is supported by a retaining wall of reinforced concrete. The bridge has a total length of 152 m —distributed in four sections— and a width of 15.60 m. Both constructions are of reinforced concrete.
