Parkinglot in Melun - France

This parkinglot with 644 places is one of the P.I.Rs. that have been constructed near Paris next to the railway-, bus-, and undergrondstations in order to avoid that people who live in the suburbs and go into the city daily to work do so by car. Thus the pollution is diminished as well as the consequent traffic problems. It has been erected in eight or nine months on an old ground-level parking lot; it has three stories and a terrace that can be used; two circular ramps and four staircases. The circulation of the traffic is channelled in three senses: entrance, exit and mixed. Separately there are W.CS., room for guards, offices, municipal service and more than one third of the ground floor intended for the Sunday market. Structure consists of pillars and beams of prestressed concrete, floors of concrete slabs and prefabricated members of whits concrete in the curtain wall of the two ramps.
