The present state of the problem is presented with some detail, taking into account the work in course of the Editorial Committee CEB-CIB-FIP-RILEM on Statistical Quality Control of Concrete. In a comparative way the modus operandi, recently introduced in Spain through the new Code of Concrete EH 73, is also presented. The paper concludes commenting on the influence which the decrease of concrete strength has on the safety of the structure, a problem which is more complicated than it might appear at first sight.
