This article describes the erection of a storey in an office building, constructed thirteen years ago in Hamburg, near the River Alster. In order to meet the owner’s wishes, which involved not interfering with the working of the original building during the extension work, the solution was adopted of arranging twelve outer metal supports, from which the new storey hung. The success with which both storeys have been linked, is worthy of special mention, and also the esthetic adaptation of the frontages, the previous and present one harmonizing into an even whole.
