Abstract

This article begins by giving a brief description of the different terrains and rocks that can be encountered in levelling work. Their characteristics are described, and it is shown how weather and weathering agents tend to transform and fragment them, thus making them easier to work. Secondly, there is a comment on the way earth moving works are carried out bearing in mind the nature of the terrain, so that the work yields the maximum efficiency. A few examples are Included of work done on roads and highways already constructed. The article ends with information on the advantages of the «ripper» type of machinery, together with drawings and photographs.
