This mathematical model was worked out when seeking a structural pattern for a building with a main steel structure, apt for the seismic circumstances of the city of Caracas. Of the various possibilities that were considered, it was decided the one which best met the conditions of the project involved the use of the so called external flexible tube, to withstand horizontal thrusts. The analysis of the space properties of the perimetral tube, through the use of a plane image of the structure, constitutes the mathematical model described in this article.
