Abstract

The transport of the Paris population within the city is becoming so difficult that a new organisation has taken up the enlargement of the current underground network. Technological advances in tunnel engineering are such that the construction of tunnels and stations is now possible under conditions which would have been impossible in earlier decades. In this article the project requirements and the adopted solutions are described in some detail.
