Abstract

One of the most interesting features of this commercial centre, situated right in the core of the city, is the «pedestrians street», which is roofed over and separated from the streets with normal traffic. This has improved the urban functionality of the zone, and made it much easier for human contacts and shopping activities to take place. The Centre as a whole has been designed on three distinct circulation levels, taking advantage of the initial slope of the ground. The shops are situated at the level of pedestrian circulation, and a number of escalators and other mechanical aids have been provided to facilitate vertical displacements.
