Abstract

This bridge, which was opened to traffic in October 1970 over the Lillebaelt, is the first of its kind in Denmark. It consists of a central span of 600 m, and two lateral ones of 240 m length each. The suspension cables, each 1,500 m, are the world's largest prefabricated cables. The bridge has original features, such as flaps on the main box girder, and new design of the anchorage blocks. These and other details are described in the article.
