Abstract

This distinguished engineering design was constructed to commemorate the centenary of the Dyckerhoff cement plant. It was built by successive overhangs, using prestressed light weight concrete, mostly of white colour. The use of counterweight approach ramps is an interesting feature, providing an original static arrangement and reducing the weight of the foundation, which in this case, because of the nature of the soil, was an expensive item.
