The economic aspect of tunneling operations in rocky ground must be related to the total organisation of the working site. Consequently, for each type or underground gallery a study should be made of the materials involved, the duration of the workers' shifts, and time taken for each operation, and then compare the relative cost for each particular combination of operations.
