Catholic parochial Centre at Renens - Switzerland

The originally of this church is mainly in its planform and the reinforced concrete roof, in the shape of a hyperbolic paraboloid. In the annex, next to the church, there is a house for the priest, confession boxes, class rooms and other dependencies. Below the church there is a large hall, with a floor area of 619 m2 and two meeting halls, each of 80 m2 area. The church itself has seats for 480 people, and an additional chapel with 70 seats, as well as confession boxes, the baptistry and sacristy. This project is a fine example of how large areas may be roofed over without intermediate supports, at a reasonable price, by means of reinforced concrete shells.
