The author explains how the clear structural arrangement of this chamber helps the viewer better to understand the Susqueda arch dam, another great feat of structural engineering, inside which the chamber is located. A limiting wall on to which a ceiling of flat slabs is set defines an interior with a volume of 10,000 m3; a total of twenty-two hollow columns in the shape of revolving hyperboloids support the ceiling; and the final element in the structural assembly comprising this unique work is an attractive spiral staircase with the special feature of a completely unsupported circular loop.
