Abstract

This centre occupies half of a block, between Saarinen's station and the large Frosterus' Stockmanns Stores. On the top floors of the Centre there is a commercial store and offices, and on the second floor a supermarket has been located. An elevated track enables cars to drive from the street to a parking space on the terrace, where 500 cars can be left. This Centre is an example of excellent access and circulation design; this circulation involving three separate levels. One of them runs underground, and links with the railway station; another is on street level; and the third runs at first storey level.
