Both the shape of the planform and the arrangement of the seating, fanwise, around the altar, the pulpit and the baptismal font, contribute to concentrate the attention of the congregation and make it easier for them to participate in the religious service. The tower, in addition to its specific function, is also a corner pillar, both statically and optically, and houses the sacristy.
