The “Sagrada Familia” is considered to be a no-gothic temple. This negation is due to the known fact that the force distribution in the Gothic style is structurally counteracted by means of support elements. In this temple, however, the force distribution is structurally counteracted “in an organic fashion”, i.e., it is neutralised through the construction of quadric surfaces which naturally generate such distribution. Without denying that the “Sagrada Familia” is a no-gothic building, in this paper we use fractal, descriptive and computational Geometry techniques and we apply them to the basic projections of the temple in order to parameterize the characteristic which describes the space-filling effectiveness of the design, the roughness of its elements. We conclude that such characteristic is indeed gothic and matches the Gothic style, particularly the cathedrals in Burgos, Paris, Amiens and Chartres.
