Abstract

As is well known, epoxi resins are overcoming a large number of problems in various fields of industry. In construction their use promises to be useful in many aspects. Concreting joints is a problem which is not well solved. Faced with the possibility that this difficulty can be finally settled by the use of epoxi resins, the Eduardo Torroja Institute has decided to undertake a number of experimental investigations at its research laboratory. In the first article a brief account is given of the tests carried out to ascertain the quality of concreting joints, using this type of resin as adhesive. A number of conditions have been introduced in the form of variables, such as concrete proportioning, external treatment of joints, age difference of the joined concretes, etc.
