Junior School in Düsseldorf

This very cleanly designed, beautiful, school consists of two main blocks whose simple geometric shapes stand in bare contrast with each other. One of them contains schoolrooms and offices, and the other the gymnasium and ancillaries. They are connected by a covered walk, the roof of which provides an element of unity between the two blocks. In the composition of this complex the colour pattern has been a major factor: it involves blues, oranges, ochres and greys, all in vivid contrast. The delightfully shaped seats, and the gay fountains, contribute to enliven the rectangular contracts of the whole.
