The efficiency of motor transport depends on the rational and precise coordination of the various factors which affect movement by motor vehicles, namely: Correct space and time planning. Speed, by using suitable material and exploiting effectively the power and the capacity of the drivers. Continuity of performance, due to a systematic and efficient maintenance service and intelligent traffic control. Flexibility to introduce modifications in the existing schedules, without interrupting the flow of traffic. By applying effectively the above principles it will be possible to organise transport in the best possible manner. Briefly the above requirements can be summarised thus: «to place, rapidly and regularly, at the preappointed places, all the necessary material for the execution of a particular project».
