Questions about trainign for built heritage researchers

Abstract

The papers dealing with the built heritage submitted to the 1st Seminar on Construction Research, together with the keynote address and the conclusions reached in the final debate, provide a fairly representative overview of the present situation in Spain in this specific area of research: namely, intervention in buildings, monumental or otherwise. The author sustains that a field in which progress has been insufficient is in the establishment of the fundamental criteria for the specific training for professionals engaging in such research, i.e., architects, engineers and the like normally involved in this type of intervention, whose specific training is far from ideal. The author draws from his personal experience to propose criteria and academic content that may prove to be useful for the constructive renovation of such training.
