Además de todas las mejoras de carácter puramente técnico obtenidas con esta nueva construcción, se prevé que la terrible cifra actual de pérdidas de vidas al año se verá reducida notablemente. Cálculos sobre esta posibilidad aseguran que se podrán salvar unas 9.000 vidas, anualmente, en todo el Estado. Esto supone un ahorro de 700 millones de dólares por causa de accidentes, y 500 en gasolina, frenos y neumáticos. Estos cálculos se han extendido también a las economías que supone la reducción del tiempo en el recorrido de vehículos comerciales. La cifra calculada a este respecto es de 800 millones de dólares anuales.
