Volvemos a decir que es nuestro propósito estudiar, en este artículo y otros que seguirán, los puentes romanos de que tenemos noticia. Aunque la meta ideal es que sean todos los puentes romanos, estamos forzados a errar, por defecto y por exceso, y al resultado será aplicable aquello de que «ni están todos los que son, ni son todos los que están». Para que el acierto fuera máximo se precisaría la aportación de todas las personas que tengan conocimiento del tema. Sirvan estas líneas de invitación y, al mismo tiempo, de agradecimiento anticipado a su ayuda, tan necesaria para centrar la cuestión en su más y en su menos.
