Entre las nuevas mejoras en las vías de comunicaciones terrestres en Inglaterra se halla la derivación de Maidstone (Kent), cuyo objeto es el de evitar que el flujo de vehículos que actualmente pasa en tránsito por el centro de la ciudad encuentre una circulación más cómoda y libere el casco urbano de embotellamientos molestos en sus calles.
