Explotaciones geotérmicas, en Wairekel

En la región del distrito de Rotorua, de la Isla Norte de Nueva Zelanda, se halla una formación geológica volcánica, muy rica en emanaciones de una mezcla de vapores de agua y otras sustancias minerales que, al ser atravesado el terreno por estos vapores a presión variable, arrastran o disuelven en su camino al exterior. En este trabajo, el autor, que ha visitado estas instalaciones, hace una breve reseña de la capacidad y condiciones que esta zona ofrece para la explotación industrial de este calor geotérmico en energía eléctrica, utilizando para ello estaciones generadoras que aprovecharían el calor natural.
