Larderello es un centro de utilización y explotación de fuerzas endógenas y núcleo industrial de importancia excepcional para toda la nación. Como consecuencia, en los últimos años, se ha desarrollado una gran actividad constructiva: viviendas, escuelas, centro social, teatro... Michelucci fue encargado de realizar la composición urbanística del conjunto y el proyecto de la iglesia.
