Si contemplamos las amarillas páginas de la Historia —tanto la antigua, que no hemos podido comprobar, como la moderna, que hemos verificado por medio de documentos—, encontraremos noticias equívocas e interpretaciones contradictorias. Incluso en nuestros días existen críticas opuestas sobre personajes tan objetivamente identificados como Julio César, Napoleón o Matías Grunewald. Y es que las preferencias de cada siglo ejercen decisiva influencia hasta en la historiografía de aspecto más científico.
