El Memorial Center de Milwaukee ha sido erigido en la parte más alta de la ciudad, coronando una enorme colina que domina ampliamente el conjunto urbano y un hermoso lago. Su emplazamiento, al final de un puente de grandes dimensiones, exigía que fuese tratado en armonía con éste, habiéndose adoptado por ello el sistema de colocar la edificación reposando sobre una planta totalmente diáfana que deja vista la estructura, cuyos esbeltos soportes dan sensación de monumentalidad.
